What is livehuddle?

Meet and run workshops together: a free, open-source Space your team walks into, talks in and works on, live, right in the browser.

livehuddle is a web app where teams meet and run workshops together. You open a Space, a shared place in the browser, and everyone who joins walks in as a little character: they can gather round a table, say hello in a speech bubble, and put their ideas on the board in front of them. Everyone sees everyone else's moves and edits as they happen.

A Space to meet in

A Space holds one or more boards (its tabs), and a board can be a room to meet in, a wall of sticky notes, or both. Start from one of the Spaces (a Virtual Office, a Coworking Space, a Team Pod or an All-Hands Hall) and it opens with you walking, in Avatar mode.

Avatar mode: your character walks to the part of the board you are talking about, and everyone can see where you are.
  • Characters you walk with a click or the arrow keys, dress how you like, and sit at a desk or round a table. See Avatar Mode.
  • Speech bubbles, waves and reactions so a quick hello or a round of applause needs no call.
  • Portals between boards, so a Space can have a lobby, a meeting room and a breakout corner. See Portals.
  • Real-time presence: live cursors, who has what selected, and an element someone else is editing locked for everyone else.

Workshops on the board

The same board is where a session happens. Drop sticky notes, group them, then decide together:

  • Session tools to run a retro or a workshop, with timers, dot votes and polls for the whole room. See Workshop Mode.
  • Templates for retrospectives, stand-ups, brainstorms, quizzes and icebreakers, so you rarely start from an empty board. See Templates.
  • Shapes, arrows, frames and lanes when a session needs a little structure. See Shapes and Arrows.

Built for teams

livehuddle is for teams who would rather be in the room together: remote and hybrid teams keeping a place to bump into each other, facilitators running retros and workshops, and anyone hosting a stand-up, an all-hands or a quiz. The unit of value is the team, not the single author.

To make that frictionless, the Space always works without signing in. You can open a Space, set up the board, and hand the link to a colleague who walks straight in, no account required. See Sharing Your Space.

Everyone in a Space sees each other's live cursors and presence at once.

Free and open source

livehuddle is MIT-licensed and free for everyone. There is no paid tier and no plan to introduce one. It runs at livehuddle.app, and the whole codebase is open for anyone to read. Every feature is available to every user. See Why use livehuddle?.

The fastest way to understand livehuddle is to use it. Open a new Space, pick Team Pod, and walk round it, no sign-up needed.
