Searching Teams

When you are signed in, search reaches into your teams: the teams themselves and the folders and spaces shared inside them.

When you are signed in and belong to one or more teams, the search panel reaches into them as well, so team work is as findable as your own. It works the same from the editor and from the Explorer page.

What the Teams group matches

A single Teams group gathers three kinds of match, in this order:

  • Teams themselves, by name. Picking one opens that team's page in the Explorer.
  • Team folders in a team's shared library. A folder is shown with its full path (for example "Marketing / Q3"), and it matches on any part of that path, so typing a parent folder's name also finds the folders inside it. Picking one opens the team page with that folder already open.
  • Team spaces in a team's shared library, by name. Picking one opens the space.

Team folders and spaces carry an "in <team>" suffix, so when a name appears in more than one place you can tell which team it belongs to at a glance. They also match on the team's name, so typing a team's name lists its folders and spaces alongside the team itself.

The Teams group: the team itself, plus its shared folders and spaces tagged with their team.

Each of the three kinds lists up to 8 matches, counted separately, so a team with many spaces can't crowd its folders out of the list.

Team spaces only appear here, not in the Spaces group, which is for your personal spaces. See Finding Spaces and Folders.

Signed-in only

Teams require an account, so this group only appears when you are signed in with teams to search. Guests, and signed-in users with no teams, simply will not see it. The rest of search, your spaces and folders, works the same either way.

The team libraries are fetched in the background, one request per team, and their results arrive together. If you search the moment a page opens, or straight after joining a team, its folders and spaces can take a second to appear. If a team's library cannot be fetched, its folders and spaces are left out of the results until the libraries are fetched again (for example, when you reload the page), while the team itself still shows.

Searching is often faster than expanding the Teams tree in the Explorer: type a team or folder name and jump straight in.
