Finding Spaces and Folders

The always-on scope of search: your spaces, your folders, and anything shared with you.

Wherever you open the search panel, it always covers your own library, so you never have to remember which folder a space is in. Matching is on the name only, and any part of it will do: board finds "Sprint board" and "Onboarding".

The always-on scope: your spaces, spaces shared with you, and your folders.

Spaces

The Spaces group matches your own spaces by name (a space you never named is listed as "Untitled Space"). Pick one and it opens, the quickest way back into a space without scrolling the Explorer. This group is in scope from anywhere: the editor and the Explorer page alike.

A space saved only in this browser (see Offline Mode) carries a This Browser label in the results, so you can tell it apart from one saved to your account.

Spaces in a team's library are not in this group: they are listed under Teams, tagged with their team. See Searching Teams.

Shared with You

Once you have opened someone else's space through a share link, a Shared with You group matches it too, marked with a share icon. (It is the same list as Shared With Me in the Explorer, so a link you were sent but never opened is not in it yet.) Picking one opens it on its share link, with whatever access the owner granted. This keeps shared work findable alongside your own, without it cluttering your folders. If the owner turns sharing off, the link expires, or the space goes to the Trash, it drops out of the results.

My Work (your folders)

The My Work group matches the folders in your personal folder tree by name. Picking a folder opens it on the Explorer page (from the editor, search takes you there), so search doubles as a way to jump around your folder tree without expanding it by hand. Team folders are listed under Teams instead.

Limits

Each group lists up to 8 matches. If what you want is not among them, type a little more of its name. With an empty box the panel lists your spaces, shared spaces, folders and teams (and, in a space, its tabs and elements), so you can open it and arrow straight down to one.

Search is owner-scoped: a guest finds the spaces their own browser owns, and the ones it has opened through share links; signing in brings your account's spaces into scope. Search only looks at names: it does not look inside other spaces, so to find a word on a space, open that space and search there.
